The Hock Shield™: Long Lasting Protection to Stand Up to the Job
Santa Cruz, California (September 4, 2015) Hock joints pose a confounding situation in veterinary care. In 'Bandaging: Wrapping It Up' in The Horse, FEI veterinarian Michael A. Ball, DVM, wrote: “It is very difficult to bandage the hock so that a bandage stays in the proper position and does more good than harm. It is important, if a hock bandage is used, that it fits the hock/leg well and is secured adequately to prevent slipping. In addition, hock bandages might make some horses kick even more. If this happens, even the best of bandages is no match for the forces created by a kicking horse.”
