I-5 Publishing, a media technology company that creates remarkable content focusing on lifestyle experiences for avid enthusiasts and informed specialty audiences seeks a talented, proactive assistant editor to join Horse Illustrated and Young Rider magazine in Lexington, KY. Candidates must be enthusiastic self-starters who can manage tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and develop compelling content at an established but evolving publishing company.

The Assistant Editor reports to the Group Editor.

Responsibilities:
• Writing
• Fact checking
• Copy editing
• Issue planning
• Organization
• Administrative tasks

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
• 2-plus years experience at a magazine, newspaper or website
• Production experience: Editing in InDesign and flowing text for designer
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong copyediting and proofing skills; good knowledge of AP Style
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or English, or equivalent experience
• Proficiency on PC/MAC programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe InDesign
• Interest in latest health, entertainment, food, home and active lifestyle trends
• Horse knowledge and experience
