Palm Partnership Training’s Discover Western Dressage Symposium Becomes a Staple for Western Dressage Education

October 19-20 Fox Grove Farm in Ocala, FL, will be home to the third Discover Western Dressage Symposium cosponsored by Palm Partnership Training and the Western Dressage Association of Florida. With more than 25 professionals and amateurs from 10 states, Canada and New Zealand in the first two sessions, the program is quickly becoming a staple in the world of western dressage education. One professional raved, “Comprehensive bottom up explanation of concepts. Very open forum with all questions answered. Excellent hospitality!”

An all-star lineup of Symposium presenters with credentials second to none includes 4x WDAA World Champion and multiple top ten competitor and trainer Lynn Palm, Instructor and Coach to multiple WDAA World Champion, Top Ten and State High Point winners Cyril Pittion-Rossillon and 2011 USDF L Graduate with Distinction and Western Dressage Judge Karen Abbattista. With more than six decades combined experience the trio offers an extremely valuable and broad perspective from many vantage points including those of competitor, trainer, instructor, coach and judge.

A natural fit for Palm, Pittion-Rossillon and Abbattista is to lend their knowledge and experience to the Western Dressage Association of Florida. Each serve as Advisory Board Members to Florida, one of the most progressive and forward thinking state affiliates of the Western Dressage Association of America. The relationship goes full circle as those who have completed the Symposium can become Sanctioned Professionals by the WDAFL.

The Symposium is comprised of theory sessions, discussion and live demonstrations which offer a clear and precise progression of humane and effective Western Dressage fundamentals based on classical training. The Symposium answers many questions asked about western dressage and rules for gaits, maneuvers, tack, attire and competition as furnished by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). During demonstrations desirable and undesirable gaits, proper and improper balance, frame and tempo are observed along with properly ridden arena figures, lateral movements and the art of riding with accuracy. Questions will be addressed during demonstrations to solidify the proper image of the western dressage horse and rider.

While the professionals received a wealth of information for instructing, training, coaching and judging western dressage to take home to their own businesses in Part 1, there is a need for progression and constant evolution. Therefore, Part 2 to the Symposium will take place March 21-23, 2016.

The 2015 fall Symposium is October 19-20 at Fox Grove Farm following Palm Partnership Training’s Western Dressage Clinic and Competition October 16-18.
