Western Dressage Association® Of America Para-Western Dressage Demonstrations


Parker, Colorado – Marsha Cullen Grade II Para-Equestrian, 2014 USEF Para-Dressage Sportsmanship Trophy Winner and WDAA member from Oklahoma gave an introductory presentation at the Carlisle Academy Integrative Equine Therapy & Sports premier PATH certified facility in Lyman, ME on August 26th. The sessions for this camp were taught by FEI 5* Para-Dressage Judge Hanneke Gerritson from Holland and Clive Milkins International Para-Dressage coach and Trainer-in-Residence at Carlisle Academy. The highlights of the presentation included the history of Western Dressage, the defining characteristics of Western Dressage, and similarities and differences between classical and western dressage and discussions following.

The idea of Para-Western Dressage was well received by the participants of this camp. An announcement was made about Para-Western Dressage demonstration rides at the WDAA Annual Convention and World Championship Show November 4-8, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Several of those present expressed interest in the program. Hope Hand, President of the United States Para-Equestrian Association has encouraged involvement of members of the USPEA in the demonstration rides the WDAA World Championship Show this fall.
