ESCAMBIA COUNTY EQUESTRIAN CENTER

The Escambia County Equestrian Center is a service provided by the Board of County Commissioners and Escambia County Parks and Recreation Department. Since its completion in 2002, events hosted at the151-acre county park and multi-purpose venue continually draw participants and enthusiasts from around the country to the greater Pensacola area, creating a significant economic impact for our community.

EVENTS:

The Equestrian Center is primarily an event venue and has hosted everything from equestrian competitions and clinics, rodeos and timed events, dogs shows and agility trials, cross-country and run/walks, car shows, motor-cross and monster truck shows, music festivals, arts and craft fairs, family reunions, food truck rallies, club meetings, and more! RECREATION:

We are open to the public for general use daily, sunrise to sunset. A large portion of the facility includes woods and important wetlands, home to a variety of wildlife. 

The facility's multi-use nature trails, open areas, and ponds provide important recreational opportunities to the public and we have joggers, dog walkers, bicyclists, and bird watchers who visit the facility on a daily basis. No motorized vehicles allowed on trails. 

Local horse owners are allowed to trailer-in and practice in some of our arenas when they are not being used or prepped for contracted events. Individuals or user groups are not able to restrict access to others unless they rent the arena. Please contact us if you are interested in arena lights or exclusive use of an arena.

Note that some areas of the Equestrian Center may not be available to the Public due to contracted events being held or being prepped for.

RV Site Hookups: 

We accept reservations up to 14 nights, subject to availability and upcoming events, which have priority. 35 of our 75 electric sites are full hook-up.

LAYOVERS/TRANSIENT OVERNIGHT BOARDING REQUESTS:

The Escambia County Equestrian Center is a popular overnight horse boarding stop in Pensacola / Northwest Florida. Permanent barns have 12x12 stalls with water, power, and wash racks. Shavings available. RV sites with water, power, sewer available. Large rig parking. Please note that horses must be in stalls overnight and horses in stock pens, arenas, ex-pens, or tied to trailers overnight is not permitted. 

We are only 15 minutes from Interstate I-10 Exits 5 and 7. Several hotels, feed & hay stores, grocery stores, and gas stations are nearby.
Drive times from southeast locations:
Atlanta, GA: 325 mi / 5 hrs
Houston, TX: 525 mi / 8 hrs
Ocala, FL: 375/5.5 hrs
Wellington/West Palm Beach, FL: 621 mi / 8.75 hrs

To make your layover request:  Please call our office at (850) 941-6042 at least 24 hours in advance, Monday - Friday, before 3 p.m. Office is closed on holidays. Cash or check must be used to pay your invoice. Layover stalls and electric sites are subject to availability and contracted events have priority.

The Equestrian Center is not a boarding stable and maintains no horses or livestock on-site.

COMPOST:

The Escambia County Equestrian Center has composted horse manure & shavings that is free for personal use only. Commercial use is prohibited. No tractors or other equipment is permitted. Bring your own shovel. Come during daylight hours. There is no need to stop by our office. On the Equestrian Center Aerial View map, the compost area is located in the far left corner.

HURRICANE/EMERGENCY HOST SHELTER:

In times of severe weather in other parts of the state and along the coast, the Equestrian Center, under the jurisdiction of the Emergency Operations Center, can be opened to serve as a host shelter for equines evacuating from those areas. Check out the Equestrian Center as Host Shelter Page.

During storms and inclement weather, the Escambia County will stage sand throughout the County for citizens to fill sand bags. At the Equestrian Center, this sand will be located in the grassy field to the left, just as you enter our facility. Please bring your own sand bags.
