Bring your horse to Palmquist Farm

It’d be a real pleasure to have you and your horse come out and enjoy a stay at Palmquist Farm!
My name is Jim Palmquist, and my 800-acre farm is located in North Central Wisconsin. My wife Helen and I do raise beef cattle and timber on our farm, but our real passion is great Finnish hospitality that goes back nearly 110 years.
History
Our farm has been in my family since 1902. Back then, it was just a 40 acre subsistence farm that my great grandfather started. Since then, many generations of my family have lived and worked this farm and made it what it is today. We are proud to be a family business that has been taking in guests since 1949.
The Farm Experience
After a home-cooked breakfast, you and your horse can explore trails that go through fields, past streams and forests, and down farm roads. Our rural gravel roads and local trails, plus trails in the Chequamegon National Forest, will keep you busy exploring Northern Wisconsin nature. After a fun day of riding, come home to The Farm where a Finnish dinner, comfortable, cottage-like cabins, and a traditional Finnish Sauna are waiting for you.
Activities
Our home-cooked meals, authentic Finnish sauna, farm animals and scavenger hunt for the kids (or kids at heart) are always available.
Bring-your-own horse: miles of farm trails and quiet country roads to ride on, safe and comfortable horse accommodations
Summer and Fall season: hiking and biking trails, wagon rides, cookouts, and other local Wisconsin attractions
Event hosting: our log lodge is the perfect venture for your next riding club get-together
Lodging
After a day of farm activities, enjoy a relaxing evening in our cozy cottages. We have smaller cabins for 2 to 6 people. Our large, handcrafted log cabin (called "The White Pine Inn") is perfect for big groups. We have a total of 5 cabins and a few rooms in the Farm House that can fit about 40 to 50 people.
For your horse, we have outfitted our dairy barn with roomy stalls. We also offer outdoor corrals.

About The Farm’s Horse History
Palmquist Farm has always had a rich equestrian history. Horses were used to do much of the farm work before modern inventions, and when Art (pictured here) and Toinie Palmquist first started taking in guests, they also led horseback riding excursions. Palmquist Farm continues this tradition by giving horse drawn sleigh rides in the winter and by inviting you to bring your own horse to The Farm.
