Welcome to Scottish Dressage Group

The Club was founded in 1964 by a group of ladies, Mrs Stella Hayward, Mrs Joan Scott Plummer, Mrs Mary Wood, Mrs Ludi How, Mrs Bunty Russell and Mrs Gladys Dale, to promote dressage training. The first, though not official, name of the club was the GOLD Group, which stood for Good Old Ladies Dressage! For official purposes it was named The Edinburgh Dressage Group. The name was changed to The Scottish Dressage Group in 1968 as members were from all over Scotland and not just the Edinburgh area. The number of members was limited to 25.

We now have an Open membership of 120 mainly based back in Edinburgh,The Lothians and Borders.

Our winter series consists of 6 competitions held on the first Sunday of each calendar month, October through to April (Excluding January). We ask for competitors to be in competition attire and turnout.

The December competition usually brings out the tinsel & baubles with extra prizes awarded for the best festive fancy dress!

Our summer series, with a slightly more relaxed atmosphere runs on the first Wednesday of each calendar month, May through to September. Competition attire & turnout is not required at out Summer competitions however we do ask that riders are smart casual and suitable for riding, compliant with BD Rules for tack & safety equipment.

Points are awarded during each series, with trophies and rosettes being awarded at the AGM, usually held in late November/early December each year.

Other training and demonstration events are held during the year and we always welcome feedback on what events you would like to see us organise.

We are a friendly, supportive group who enjoy training and competing together and we would love to see you at some of our up & coming events!
