Meet the 2024 Sunrise at Old Hilltop Pimlico Tour Guides!

first published in the May 2024 Equiery It is that time of year again when live racing in Maryland returns to Baltimore’s Pimlico Racecourse. Racing fans of all ages get a chance to tour the historic facility, which first opened its doors on October 25, 1870, during the Sunrise Tours. In addition, those attending morning tours meet trainers, grooms, exercise riders, watch the horses work out, and more. Just a quiet weekend at our farm in Frederick, MD. Iris is the Commandalena yearling palamino filly, BB is the bay yearling filly, dunskin broodmare is Hollywood Chic Flick and let's not forget yearling holstein steer Happy Meal (he thinks he is a pinto).

Vicarage raced at Tampa Bay, Delaware Park, Saratoga and Belmont Park until September 2022. Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC in Kentucky and owned by Gokmen Kaya, "Vinnie" had 26 starts with trainer Kieron Magee. Now owned by Elizabeth Norris of Baltimore, Vinnie "does just about anything and everything!" according to Norris. His life is now full of trail rides, lessons, events, hunter/jumper shows, games, paper chases, hunter trials, hunter paces, pony rides and even goes swimming. ... See MoreSee Less

The Maryland General Assembly ended its 446th session at midnight on April 8. As usual, there was an intense flurry of legislative activity right up until the last minute, this year punctuated by a brief recess to allow lawmakers and staff to rush out doors, put on the special glasses, and view the solar eclipse.
