Briar Hill Farm Thoroughbreds
Briar Hill Farm is one of the longest continually operating full service breeding facilities located in Massachusetts. The farm has been in the Brown family since 1850. We offer the best of care for foals, broodmares and stallions of all breeds. We are the only farm in Massachusetts offering breaking and training on a 1/4 mile track for thoroughbreds.
Breeding and Foaling
We have been foaling mares for over 40 years with an average of 15 to 20 foals born per year. We offer 24 hour live foal watching with veterinary help less than 20 minutes away if needed. Our veterinarian is exceptional in performing artificial insemination for broodmares of a variety of breeds other than thoroughbreds used for racing ( not allowed by the Jockey Club for racing thoroughbreds).
Breaking & Training
We have a quarter mile race track with safety railing on the inner rail and post and board fencing on the outside. The track is a specially formulated surface that is very kind on legs. The turns are banked 3 degrees. We start the horses jogging on a small indoor track February15 and proceed to the outdoor track as soon as weather permits.
