Feb-2024....Hold on! Here we go! Horsin Around Again!
WOW A LOT of things have happened since the last update to this site. Change is Inevitable...But some things do remain the same. Including our love of sharing the wonderful world of equines.
We are all healthy and ready for warm weather!
These words still fit the mission:
Most people find being around horses to be a calming and rewarding experience. All horses are non-judgmental, sensitive and bursting with personality. At MRC, we place great importance on "safety always" for all participants and horses. We value a non-competitive atmosphere and focus on educating our clients through hands on experience.
I have 30+ years of experience teaching horsemanship: this translates to teach all aspects of the horse experience—communication, grooming, tacking, riding, health and daily care, maintenance, etc. I understand that every individual is unique, human and equine! Winston Churchill said “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man”—and woman, and children of all ages.
Simply put, everyone should have an opportunity to enjoy life and horse around. I look forward to scheduling your visit. Thank You.

The barn
Big barn: 9 stalls. Smaller barn: 5 stalls and tack cabinets. All stalls are 10 x 12 and completely matted. Middle : feed room. We have cameras in and outside to protect the animals and property. We believe in customizing feed and care programs to fit the horses needs. We are very open to customizing care of the horse to the owners request, while daily providing safe, natural horsemanship for the entire herd. Quality Hay and clean water are always provided. We take pride in keeping it neat and tidy!
The indoor arena
50 x 80, completely open so you can horse around inside on bad weather days. Also utilized in the really bad weather for small group turnout. We have toys to play with! Jumps, barrels, poles, balls, tarps, noodles and other stuff available to keep you busy.
Tack cabinet and stall front
Your tack is safe in this spacious place. Big enough for two saddle racks plus grooming supplies, boots and more. Horses can enjoy the freedom of top open doors, but we can enclose the horse if needed.
The Herd: Are you taking our picture? Wait, I need to fix my hair!
As you can see, the entire herd goes out together. We feel horse are like people: hanging out, eating, and playing together equals happiness! Since this herd is out daily and fed well, they all get along fine. Of course, if there is an agreeable medical condition, we adjust as necessary. We have one large pasture, approximately 3 acres. The winter dry paddock is approximately 1 acre. This section is utilized for getting out in muddy and snowy conditions and not sinking to their knees / hocks. There is another turn out pasture behind the barn. So, we can rotate pastures. Keep in mind we turn out daily, working with the Ohio weather, we have grass, but it's not always beautiful. That's why we feed quality hay and grain daily.
Leases: Love making snow and mud angels! We have great horses available for lease. Interested parties must prove safe skills and a good horse-rider fit while participating in lessons before we move forward with leasing. We offer full and partial leases, from $150 to $300 per month. We custom design a lease that is right for all involved. Our focus is to keep the horse and rider safe and happy, stressing "out with the herd time" and not over-working any animal.
Baby Corona followed me everywhere! He came to us just three days old and with no mom. He was / is a rescued nurse mare foal. Lots of buckets of milk, time and loving care later, he's healthy and very happy. You should see his muustach! We have decades of experience with moms and babies, gelding and mares of all ages.
We Rough Riders are ready to enjoy a "safe riding lesson". Kids of all ages, sizes and shapes, and experience levels are welcome to enjoy individualized and group whole horsemanship lessons. We play with lots of toys, also known as nuisance training, to assist in preperation of the un-prediticitable nature of animals.
We enjoy the beautiful trails with all the seasons. This is Ohio! Wait a minute, it will change. The horses need daily attention all year round. We do have the indoor arena for those really crazy weather days.
