About Maine Barrel Racing Association
Established in 1977, the Maine Barrel Racing Association (MeBRA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sportsmanship, and horsemanship skills through competition in timed events. Our shows are held at fairs and exhibition grounds throughout Maine and are enjoyed by a wide variety of people. We know how to have fun and draw a crowd!
We feature events in our program including barrel racing, pole bending, quadrangle, single pole, speed barrels, quarter race and youth classes. These events are based on time and challenge the horse and rider?s ability to maneuver around obstacles without getting penalized or disqualified. Our classes are divisional, which levels the playing field allowing riders to place even if they are a few seconds off the winning pace.
Our club?s mission is to further promote barrel racing, pole bending, and other timed events across the state of Maine. We also help support charities that are close to our club. Each year we host at least one fundraiser show and donate a percentage of the profits to the charity of our choice.
